Common Desk, a repeat client, contracted Scott + Reid for the interior remodel of their second Houston, Texas coworking center located at 3040 Post Oak in the Lakes in Post Oak. The 29,000-square-foot office displays a style unique to this location while still achieving the client’s overall brand experience.

Amenities like the custom-built steel and millwork library nook with banquette seating, the in-house Fiction Coffee Bar, a cocktail lounge, and shared kitchens on each level put this Common Desk into a class of its own. Additional interior highlights of the space include custom millwork and glass office fronts, porcelain and carpet tile flooring, open-to-deck ceilings, a specialty lighting package, and a convenience staircase connecting the two levels.

A unique component of this project was teaming with Common Desk’s millwork partner to ensure the substantial amount of woodwork, framing, and glass used throughout the space was delivered and installed on schedule. To cohesively integrate this work with other trades and avoid disrupting neighboring tenants, the project team developed a comprehensive schedule based on critical work hours. Frequent communication between the Scott + Reid project team, client, architect, and trade partners guaranteed the vision for this shared office environment was brought to fruition.
