Ribbon Cutting at The Wilcox By NORF Companies in Tyler, Texas

Last week, Scott + Reid celebrated a ribbon cutting and grand opening event at The Wilcox by NORF Companies in Tyler, Texas. Scott + Reid worked to transform The Wilcox, a historic mid-century modern building in downtown Tyler, into a modern apartment complex.

According to MSN, the restoration of Tyler over the years has been something that the city’s Mayor Don Warren has kept a close eye on. “To see downtown just kind of die in the ‘70s and ‘80s, I hated it. Now that it’s come back, it’s come back in such a big way, in a fun way, in an exciting way,” Mayor Warren shared.

The building was first put into service in March of 1956
and was designed by world-renowned architect E. Davis Wilcox. Wilcox practiced in Tyler from 1946 until his death at the age of 87. The architect led the mid-century modern development of both residential and commercial properties in Tyler, Texas in the 50s and 60s.

Our client, NORF Companies, led the acquisition and redevelopment of the property. NORF is a veteran-owned boutique real estate investment firm specializing in tax-advantaged strategies. They strive to improve communities by redeveloping historic buildings and revitalizing blighted neighborhoods while generating compelling risk-adjusted returns for investors. Based in New Orleans, NORF invests throughout North America with a special focus in the Southeast region.

It was a pleasure to work on The Wilcox and to bring this redevelopment project together for our client, reimagining this architectural treasure for the future.
